Private boat tour to visit Amalfi coast - Departure from Positano
Amalfi, the pearl of the gulf of Salerno
The private boat tour to Amalfi we propose is a great way to combine a boat trip and a walking tour around Positano or Amalfi. During navigation cold drinks will be served to sip in total relaxation and there will be the chance of several swimming stops along the coast.
Our trip along the Amalfi Coast begins after the agreed time of departure. While you’re relaxing in the sun, our skipper will cruise along the coast showing you places known only to locals.
We will cruise by the island of Li Galli, where the famous ballet dancer Rudolf Nureyev had his home. This pearl of an island is located in front of Positano, just a few miles from the coast.
The island, although in open sea, is in a protected marine area surrounded by three smaller islets that make up the archipelago. A swimming stop would be a must here.
Afterwards we will head towards Amalfi, and you can decide when we arrive whether to go ashore to for a visit.
Once back on board, we will be sailing towards Positano passing by Conca dei Marini, Furore and Praiano. During the journey we will pass by several characteristic restaurants, located in small coves where it would be possible to stop for lunch. If you like fish you should take advantage of this as the local fishermen arrive in their little boats to bring in their catch of fresh fish of the day
After lunch we sail to Positano, perched on the hillside so immediately recognisable - you may have the impression of admiring a nativity scene. If you didn’t go ashore in Amalfi you might want to do it here. Just ask our skipper who will accompany you to the quay or call a sea taxi to take you ashore.
The Amalfi coast has been talked about since Roman times, so don't miss the opportunity to enjoy this immortal and spectacular scenery.

Positano and Amalfi higlights and historical information
Positano: its name recalls the god of the sea Poseidon.
Some time ago, in the center of Positano, more precisely in piazza dei mulini, there was a mill, dating back to the Middle Ages, in which the Roman emperor Tiberius, who lived in Capri, for his phobia of being poisoned, was used to send his servants to buy flour for bread. In 2018 an ancient Roman villa was opened to the public; built at the end of the 1st century BC, a time when the Roman patricians, always looking for new places to stay, began to colonize the city.
The eruption of Vesuvius in 79 covered the villa with ashes making it invisible to the human eye up to now; its own soil subsequently became the seat of religious buildings, and during the excavations two cryptas dating back to the 1700s were also brought to light. Today in the highest part of that same area where the Roman villa "Villa Maritimae" once stood, there is the church of Santa Maria Assunta, where the beautiful picture of the black Madonna with child is exhibited.+ Show More - Read All +
To be mentioned the beautiful Saracen towers located along the entire Amalfi coast, built in the 16th century to defend the city from attacks by Turkish pirates.
Amalfi: Founded by the Romans in the 9th century, it was part of the four maritime republics that controlled the Mediterranean sea, with Pisa, Venice and Genoa.
Among its monuments, the most famous is certainly the Cathedral of Sant'Andrea, located at the entrance of the city.
Made up of two different basilicas juxtaposed, but once communicating, the first erected in honor of the virgin Assunta, the second in honor of the apostle Andrew. Over the centuries the Duomo has undergone several changes. Today the ancient Roman structure has been reported, with amphorae, capitals and frescoes. Stands out among all, the most valuable element, the beautiful door built in Constantinople by the rich Amalfi merchant Pantaleone de Comite Maurone, who donated it to the city of Amalfi in 1060.
Entering the city, we can visit the ancient Amalfi paper mills; built in the thirteenth century, they produced handmade paper, procedure learned from the Arabsand then improved on site. Currently most of them are only ruins, only two paper mills are still operating and next to them the Paper Museum.
Among the famous characters of the modern era, we remember the mathematician Flavio Gioia, inventor of the compass.
In 1997 Positano as well as Amalfi, were recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
